PhD Supervision
I am happy to supervise PhD students working on Greek history (particularly Greek religion, epigraphy, colonisation and settlement, and ancient Sicily) and on digital approaches to the ancient world. Please check out the Durham Classics Department's webpage on PhD degrees, and make an appointment with me via email to discuss your interests.
Postdoctoral mentorship
If you’re interested in applying for a Leverhulme EC, British Academy or Marie Sklodowska-Curie fellowship (or other schemes), or intend to carry out a research secondment at Durham with a project on Greek history or on AI for the ancient world, drop me an email and I’d be very happy to talk more!
Other opportunities
(dh)2 is the Digital Humanities research hub in the Department of Classics and Ancient History at Durham University. We are the UK’s largest cluster of research in Digital Classics, bringing together scholars working at the intersection of classical studies, computational methods, and critical humanities research. Check out our website for more information on our research and teaching opportunities.
School talks and outreach
I offer school talks and workshops introducing students to the ancient world through Digital Humanities and Artificial Intelligence. My sessions are designed to be accessible and engaging, showing how new technologies can help us read, study, and interpret ancient evidence.
I am particularly interested in using initiatives such as Aeneas and Ithaca in the Classroom, which bring AI-based tools for epigraphy into high school education. If you are a teacher or school interested in introducing students to ancient history in a new way, I would be very happy to hear from you!
